About Torque Converter

Torque Converter swaps between SI (newton-metre, kilogram-force-cm), imperial (pound-force-foot, pound-force-inch, ounce-force-inch) and the CGS dyne-cm. Useful for tightening wheel-lug, bike-component, and drone-propeller bolts to spec when manuals come in mixed units; for industrial actuator sizing where N·m and lbf·ft sit side by side; and for servo-torque tuning on robotic arms. The panel handles kgf as a force (standard gravity) and runs locally in your browser — your workshop readings never leave the device.

Best for

  • Bike, motorcycle, and car torque specs that mix N·m and lbf·ft across manuals
  • Servo and robotic-arm tuning quoted in mN·m
  • Industrial actuator sizing between European (N·m) and US (lbf·ft) documentation

Pros

  • +N·m, kgf·m, lbf·ft, lbf·in, dyne·cm all visible at once
  • +Mass-force kept separate from torque (kgf handled at standard gravity)
  • +Local JavaScript only; no signup, no uploads, works offline

Cons

  • −No angle-of-turn torque (degree-rotation product)
  • −Tightening sequences themselves aren't covered — just the unit value

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert N·m to lbf·ft?
1 N·m ≈ 0.7376 lbf·ft. So a 25 N·m bolt spec ≈ 18.4 lbf·ft — useful when a US spec book is the only one to hand.
What's a dyne·cm for?
CGS-unit tiny torques — common in precision instruments, watch movements, and small gyros. 1 dyne·cm = 1e-7 N·m. Servo datasheets for microscope stages sometimes still quote it.
Can I tighten inch-pound specs?
Yes. 1 lbf·in ≈ 0.113 N·m. Small fasteners in electronics and drones are usually quoted in inch-pounds or ounce-inches; the panel covers both.
Does kgf·m mean the same as N·m?
kgf·m is the kilogram-force-metre (1 kgf·m ≈ 9.807 N·m at standard gravity). It's a force-times-length unit, not mass-times-length. The panel keeps them distinct so you don't accidentally multiply by 9.807 twice.
Are my torque inputs uploaded?
Never. Conversion runs as local JavaScript in your browser. Workshop torque readings stay on your device.
