About Flow Rate Converter

Flow Rate Converter swaps between SI (L/min, L/s, m³/s, m³/h), US customary (gpm US, gpd), imperial (gpm imperial, gpd imperial), and air-driven CFM (cubic feet per minute, standard). Useful for plumbing and HVAC sizing where SFP sheets quote L/s and a US spec sheet is in gpm, aquarium and pool pump matching where m³/h and gph mix, and compressed-air system tuning (CFM at standard conditions). All factors full precision, runs locally, nothing uploaded.

Best for

  • HVAC SFP (specific fan power) looked up in L/s vs US gpm
  • Aquarium and pool pump sizing where m³/h and gph mix
  • Compressed-air system loads quoted in CFM

Pros

  • +Liquid and air (CFM) units handled separately, no factor confusion
  • +US vs imperial gallon distinction explicit
  • +Local JavaScript only; no signup, no uploads, works offline

Cons

  • −CFM assumes standard conditions — local temperature corrections separate
  • −No mass-flow conversion — kilogram per hour needs density

Frequently Asked Questions

What's a CFM and why 'standard' conditions?
CFM (cubic feet per minute) is a US airflow unit. 'Standard CFM' assumes air at 20 °C and ~1 atm; real CFM differs slightly with temperature and pressure, so high-precision pneumatic work needs those corrections separately.
How do L/s and m³/h convert?
1 L/s = 3.6 m³/h. HVAC spec sheets mix both; the panel shows the factor explicitly so you don't divide by 3.6 in your head.
Why distinguish US vs imperial gallons?
1 US gallon = 3.785 L; 1 imperial = 4.546 L. A pump spec quoted in 'gpm' gives the wrong flow unless the country is clear; the panel labels both sides.
Can I convert daily totals (gallons per day)?
Yes — gpd appears under our volume-flow list. For metric, m³/day works the same way (convert through L/s × 86,400).
Are my flow inputs uploaded?
Never. Conversion runs as local JavaScript. Pump specs, plumbing numbers, pneumatic calcs stay on your device.
