About Frequency Converter

Frequency Converter swaps between the units time-varying signals are rated in: plain hertz (Hz), kilohertz and megahertz (radio bands, CPU clocks), gigahertz (Wi-Fi, modern CPU rates), revolutions per minute (motors, turntables, turbines), and angular radians per second (control-system and DSP notation). The 1 rpm = 1/60 Hz and 1 rad/s = 1/(2π) Hz relations are exact, so a motor nameplate at 1800 rpm reads as 30 Hz shaft frequency and 188.5 rad/s angular rate without ambiguity. The page is static and runs offline.

Best for

  • Engineers comparing motor nameplate rpm with electrical-line Hz for VFD tuning
  • Radio enthusiasts working across Hz, kHz and MHz band plans
  • DSP/control students moving between Hz and rad/s on homework

Pros

  • +Linear (Hz multiples), mechanical (rpm), and angular (rad/s) units on one panel
  • +Exact SI relationships — 1 rpm = 1/60 Hz, 1 rad/s = 1/(2π) Hz
  • +Offline after first load; no signup, nothing uploaded

Cons

  • −Period units (seconds per cycle) are not exposed — use the inverse value
  • −Musical notation (Hz ⇄ note names) is not supported here

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I convert rpm to Hz?
1 rpm = 1/60 Hz, so a 1800 rpm motor runs at 30 Hz shaft frequency. Multiply rpm by 1/60 (or divide by 60) to get Hz. Our tool applies this ratio automatically.
Why is rad/s = 2π × Hz?
Frequency f in Hz counts cycles per second; angular frequency ω = 2π × f counts radians per second (one cycle = 2π radians). So 1 Hz = 6.2832 rad/s. Use rad/s when feeding rate into control-systems and DSP formulas.
Does this handle terahertz and beyond?
Currently the panel covers Hz through GHz plus rpm and rad/s. For THz (used in spectroscopy and 6G research), enter the Hz value and multiply by 10⁻¹² manually, or watch for tool updates adding THz and PHz.
Can I convert wavelength to frequency?
No — this is purely a frequency-unit converter. If you know the wave speed (c = 299,792,458 m/s for light in vacuum), frequency = speed ÷ wavelength, then convert the result here.
Are my inputs uploaded?
No. Frequency conversion uses static factors embedded in the page; everything runs locally in your browser and works offline after first load.
