About Temperature Converter

Temperature Converter swaps between Celsius, Fahrenheit, Kelvin, and Rankine. Pick the input scale and type a value; the panel shows every other scale at once. Useful for cooking recipes from a different country, science homework, weather reports across borders, and HVAC troubleshooting where manufacturers use different scales. The conversion uses the standard linear formulas (°C×9/5+32 = °F, °C+273.15 = K) with full double precision — important for the small absolute shifts Kelvin users care about.

Best for

  • Cooking recipes from American or European blogs with different temperature scales
  • Science homework touching Kelvin and Rankine alongside Celsius
  • HVAC and appliance specs that mix °F (US) and °C (rest of world)

Pros

  • +°C ⇄ °F ⇄ K ⇄ °R, all four scales at once
  • +Built-in linear formulas with full IEEE-754 precision
  • +Local JavaScript only; no signup, no uploads, works offline

Cons

  • −Doesn't list 'feels like', wind chill, or heat index — those need weather data
  • −No negative-Kelvin display (physically meaningful, but rarely requested)

How to use Temperature Converter

  1. 1

Enter the source value, color code, or parameters in the input fields.

  2. 2

Select the source and destination units or models from the option dropdowns.

  3. 3

Watch the output update instantly in real-time as you type or adjust.

  4. 4

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is 0 °C = 32 °F but the offset is different from 1:1?
Because the two scales start from different zero points AND use different degree sizes. The full formula is °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. The panel handles both the slope and the offset so you never have to do the mental 18/10 + 32 dance.
Does it include 'gas mark' oven numbers?
No — gas marks are oven-setting grades on UK gas ovens, not a temperature scale. We list Kelvin and Rankine for scientific use; for gas marks you'll need an oven-specific chart.
How does Kelvin differ from Celsius?
Kelvin uses the same degree size as Celsius but starts at absolute zero (0 K = -273.15 °C). Kelvin never uses negative numbers for physical temperatures, which is why the panel shows '0 K' without '°'.
Why does the panel show Rankine?
Rankine is the absolute-temperature scale that uses Fahrenheit-size degrees — favored in some US engineering fields (turbo machinery, HVAC). Including it saves you doing 'K ↔ °R' conversions by hand.
Are my temperature inputs uploaded?
No. Conversion is fully local JavaScript in your browser. Numbers you type for cooking, weather, lab work, etc. never leave your device.
