About Magnetism Converter

Magnetism Converter handles field quantities you meet in physics, electrical engineering, and NMR/medical imaging: magnetic flux density in Tesla and Gauss, and field intensity in amperes per metre and Oersted. The 1 T = 10 kG = 10,000 G ratio is exact in SI; the A/m ⇄ Oersted pair converts at 1 Oe = 79.577 A/m for vacuum fields. The panel updates every unit on a single input, useful when an MRI spec sheet reads in mT, a hall sensor in G, and a datasheet in A/m. Everything runs as a static browser page; nothing is uploaded and the tool works offline after first load.

Best for

  • MRI technicians reconciling Tesla-rated field strength with gauss-scale sensor readings
  • Hard-drive and coil engineers handling datasheets written in Oersted vs amperes-per-metre
  • Physics students checking homework across CGS Gauss and SI Tesla conventions

Pros

  • +Flux density (T, mT, µT, G) and field intensity (A/m, Oe) on one panel
  • +Uses exact SI ratio (1 T = 10 kG) and the 4π × 10⁻³ A/m-per-Oe conversion
  • +Static page — works offline, no analytics, no signup

Cons

  • −Does not infer permeability — for materials-specific H fields, supply the value yourself
  • −CGS emu units (maxwell, line) of flux are not yet exposed; use Tesla for flux density

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between Tesla and Gauss?
They are the same quantity (magnetic flux density) in different units: 1 Tesla = 10,000 Gauss. Tesla is the SI unit used in research and medicine (an MRI field is typically 1.5–3 T); Gauss is common in permanent-magnet datasheets (a fridge magnet is ~50 G).
Are Oersted and A/m the same?
Close but not numerically equal. 1 Oe ≈ 79.577 A/m. By convention, in vacuum they describe the same magnetic field intensity; inside materials the relationship changes with permeability. This tool reports the vacuum 4π × 10⁻³ ratio used in textbook problems.
Can I convert magnetic flux (Weber) to flux density (Tesla)?
Flux density = flux ÷ area. This tool converts B-field units directly; if your input is in webers you need the cross-sectional area in m² to produce a tesla value. Use the area converter for the geometry side.
Does the conversion account for material permeability?
No — the panel converts between unit conventions for the same physical quantity. If you have H in A/m and want B in T for a specific core material, multiply by the material's µ (for vacuum, μ₀ = 4π × 10⁻⁷ T·m/A ≈ 1.2566 × 10⁻⁶).
Is my input uploaded?
No. The math runs as static JavaScript in your browser. There are no network calls and no analytics on the numbers you type.
