About Live Dictation

Live Dictation uses the Web Speech API in your browser to turn your microphone input into editable text in real time. There is no audio file to upload — you just talk and the text appears. Use it for hands-free note-taking, drafting emails by voice, accessibility when typing is hard, and languages where typing is slow. Recognition runs in your browser; depending on browser config, processing happens on-device or via the browser vendor's speech service. When you copy the text out, it's plain editable text — drop it into any editor.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Live Dictation need an internet connection?
Most browsers route the audio through their built-in speech service, which uses the network. Some browsers (Chrome on desktop with on-device recognition enabled) can do it fully offline. Either way, your speech is not uploaded to ChameLeo's server.
Why does my dictation accuracy vary?
Microphone quality, background noise, accent, and speaking pace all matter. Use a quiet room and a decent headset, speak clearly at a normal pace, and switch to the closest supported language code for the best result.
Can I dictate in a non-English language?
Yes, where the browser supports it. Pick the language code before starting; popular languages like Spanish, German, French, Turkish, Hindi, and Arabic are well supported. Less-common languages may not be available.
How do I keep the text I dictated?
Copy the text out of the dictation area and paste it into your editor, notes app, or email. The tool does not save the transcript on a server — once you copy and close the tab, it's gone.
Is my voice uploaded to ChameLeo?
No. Audio processing happens inside the browser using Web Speech API; the transcript never leaves the page. We do not receive or store your voice recording or transcript on any server.
