About Resize Image

Resize Image changes the dimensions of JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, and other common formats. Enter a target width in pixels or a percentage, and the height follows the aspect ratio by default (or set both if you need to stretch). Resizing uses the same HTML5 canvas and browser image decoders your browser uses for displaying images, so the operation is fast even for large files and runs entirely in your browser — passport scans, real-estate photos, and client mockups stay on your device.

Best for

  • Downsizing DSLR/phone photos for email and chat sharing
  • Resizing product images to a uniform product-card size for a shop
  • Shrinking passport-size photos to a specific visa portal requirement (e.g. 600×600 px)

Pros

  • +Resize to width, height, or percentage; aspect-ratio lock by default
  • +All modern formats including WebP, AVIF, and HEIC
  • +Decoding and resampling happen locally — private photos never uploaded

Cons

  • −Upscaling beyond 2–3x produces blur since the tool does not run super-resolution AI
  • −Batch resizing many large RAW files at once can take RAM and time

Frequently Asked Questions

Does resizing a photo reduce quality?
Downscaling keeps the image sharp and usually looks slightly cleaner due to implicit anti-aliasing. Upscaling beyond 2–3x produces visible blur because the tool uses a standard resampling filter, not AI super-resolution.
Can I lock aspect ratio or stretch to exact dimensions?
By default the aspect ratio is locked — set a width and the height follows automatically. To stretch to exact dimensions (e.g. 1200×628 for a social preview), disable the lock and type both values.
Which formats are supported?
JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, BMP, TIFF, and GIF. Output matches the input format unless you also convert; if you need a different output format, run resize then a separate format conversion.
Is there a maximum input size?
There is no fixed cap, but very large images (over 50–80 MP) need enough RAM to decode and re-encode. On phones with 2GB of RAM it may fail; in practice any camera photo resizes fine.
Are my private photos uploaded during resizing?
Never. Decoding, resampling, and encoding all run in your browser via the browser's built-in image APIs. Passport photos, client mockups, and family pictures never leave your device.
